Our proposed store in Gerrards Cross is an innovation in superstore design. Although in need of a food store, there is shortage of suitable land within the town. Rather than try to build an out-of-town store we developed plans for a store that will involve bridging over the existing railway tracks, forming a raft to create a site of sufficient size for a supermarket with adequate car parking. Unfortunately in June 2005 the tunnel partially collapsed. We know that the tunnel collapse has caused significant inconvenience and frustration to those who live, work or travel in the area and we are truly sorry for this.
The new store and car park will be constructed above the railway tunnel. The site is close to the Gerrards Cross railway station, and will sit adjacent to Packhorse Road. Below is an artist’s impression of what the completed store will look like.

It will have 3,388 square metres (gross floor area) of floor space and 307 car parking spaces. At the moment the proposed opening hours of the store will be 8am until 8pm from Monday to Saturday and 10am until 4pm on Sunday.
Key benefits of the new store:
• Over 100 new jobs for local people, especially those interested in flexible or part time work.
• Bringing more choice and value to shopping:
• A comprehensive range of products from Tesco’s Finest collection
• A wide range of organic and regionally sourced produce and fresh food.
• An additional 307 free car parking spaces for shoppers in the village. |
