News Release... 10th January 2008 Tesco Updates Council This week Tesco has updated Buckinghamshire County Council and local residents on the latest construction timetable for their store in Gerrards Cross. Tesco explained in writing to the council that it expects to receive some important approvals for advanced works from Network Rail on Monday (15th January). With subsequent approvals expected later in the month Tesco announced it expects to start work on site in February. The first work to be undertaken will be the removal of the steel store frame. Following discussions with Network Rail, Tesco also updated the council on the detailed approval process and associated timelines. The latest plan from Tesco’s contractors and engineers has moved the expected completion date from March to September 2010. A Tesco spokesperson said: “As promised, we are keeping local people and the council informed of progress on site.” He continued: “We are pleased to be so close to starting work on site. The approval process can be long and frustrating, but it is important that safety is paramount and the experts are given the time they need to check the plans.” Tesco has committed to holding regular updates with a Gerrards Cross Parish Council working group, consisting of councillors and local residents. Tesco will discuss the latest plans and progress at the next meeting.
